Uninsured Loss Recovery (ULR) File Handler – Credit Hire / Small Claims
Office based – Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 DOE + Performance Bonus
We are looking for a File Handler to manage a caseload of Uninsured Loss Recovery (ULR) claims – mainly vehicle damage and credit hire recovery – from start to finish. You will run around 100–140 files, progress cases efficiently, and achieve strong outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities

Review new instructions and manage a caseload of 100–140 files

Handle enquiries from clients, introducers, and third parties

Maintain accurate file records and key dates (e.g. limitation)

Negotiate with insurers, solicitors, engineers, and hire companies

Prepare cases for court proceedings and issue court papers

Conduct litigation up to and including final hearings

Assess case prospects and gather supporting evidence
Candidate Requirements

Previous credit hire and/or litigation experience preferred

Other relevant claims handling experience also considered

Knowledge of legal concepts and civil procedure rules

Excellent client care, attention to detail, and communication skills

Strong IT skills (MS Office, time recording systems)

Highly organised with ability to meet deadlines
